First screening confirmed as Transmission Films’ ‘I Am Woman’

----
AIMC 2019 is delighted to announce that Australian Director Unjoo Moon’s biopic I Am Woman, fresh from its fantastic reception at the Toronto Film Festival, will screen on Monday, October 21 to cap off Transmission’s presentation.

The film, which tells the inspiring story of Helen Reddy, who wrote and sang the smash hit “I Am Woman” that became an anthem for a generation of women, earned plaudits from critics and audiences at TIFF.

Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney wrote:
“Tilda Cobham-Hervey gives a breakout performance as Helen Reddy…..the movie will be irresistible to baby boomers who grew up hearing Reddy’s extraordinary string of top 40 hits, with a generous selection of them reprised in fabulous performance sequences.”

Indiewire’s Kate Erbland called the film “a rousing, often tear-soaked crowdpleaser” and joined the chorus of acclaim for leading actress Tilda Cobham-Hervey’s outstanding performance.

Producer Rosemary Blight will introduce Transmission and Screen Australia’s presentation of ‘I Am Woman’.

Screen Australia CEO, Graeme Mason, recently said, following the film’s successful World Premiere debut in Toronto:  “The public screening for Unjoo Moon’s I Am Woman was a huge hit. It is such a feel good film and Tilda Cobham-Hervey gives a career defining performance as Helen Reddy.”

With the Australian release set for May 21, 2020, exhibitors will have several months to work with Transmission to build a campaign on the groundswell of early buzz around the film.
